By installing a 600kW Solar PV system at McCloskey’s assembly plant, we’ve helped them take a major step towards achieving energy independence and environmental responsibility.

McCloskey International is a prominent name in the recycling and aggregate sector, operating across 32 locations in the UK. With a fleet of 350 trucks, including electric vehicles, and an impressive array of plant machinery, McCloskey has become a market leader in construction and haulage services. Their commitment to sustainability and reducing operational costs led them to partner with start solar to implement a high-efficiency solar energy solution at their assembly plant.

The 600kW Solar PV Installation

For McCloskey International’s assembly plant, we designed and installed a powerful 600kW Solar PV system. The installation features 6 Solis 100kW inverters and 1,090 high-performance Leapton Solar panels, each rated at 550 watts. At the time of installation, these panels were the highest wattage available in Northern Ireland, ensuring optimal energy production and system efficiency.

This system is engineered to generate over 503,700kWh of clean electricity annually, providing McCloskey International with a reliable and sustainable energy source for at least 25 years. Using the sun’s energy, McCloskey is significantly reducing its dependence on traditional power sources and lowering overall energy costs.

Financial and Environmental Benefits

The installation of the 600kW Solar PV system brings substantial financial benefits to McCloskey International. Over the system’s expected lifespan, it is projected to save the company approximately £3,148,125, with a return on investment (ROI) achieved in less than 4 years. This means that after this initial payback period, McCloskey will enjoy over two decades of free electricity, all while benefiting from the protection of the manufacturer’s warranty.

In terms of environmental impact, the Solar PV system helps McCloskey International make significant strides towards reducing their carbon footprint. The clean energy generated by this system supports their sustainability goals, demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility and long-term energy efficiency.
